A 13-year-old and his 12-year-old girlfriend have reportedly become Britain's youngest parents.
The Sun reports that the baby, who was born last weekend, was conceived last summer when the girl was still in primary school.
The Evening Standard reports that the girl's father is very supportive of his daughter.
"That little girl does not bring shame to me at all. I’m so proud of her that shame doesn’t even come into it," the dad, who declined to give his name to protect the identity of the child, said. “She’s still my little girl whether she’s done that or not."
The child's sex has not been identified nor have the couple, who have a combined age younger than any other parents in British history, according to the Sun and Standard.
The girl's father told British radio host Nick Ferrari that both sets of grandparents are supportive of their children.
"There are lots of routes kids this age can take," he said. "Lots of kids are on drugs. She brought something beautiful into the world and we're all proud of her.”
The girl's dad said the new parents say they are in love and plan to raise the child together.
