Hola Mohalla is a three day Sikh festival during which Nihang Sikh "warriors" perform Gatka (mock encounters with real weapons), tent pegging and bareback horse-riding. It usually falls in March following the Hindu festival of Holi, according to photographer Narinder Nanu.
The festival includes feats of bravery, community meals called Langars, processions, religious lectures, and poetry competitions, according to SikhNet.
